We have recently increased our stock of Martin Audio Wavefront system components with the addition of the WSXa.
The WSXa has a 1,000W AES 18″ driver firing through an internal ‘S’ shaped 7ft folded-horn. This results in an efficiency typically 5dB greater than ported direct radiator sub-bass systems and contributes to the exceptionally fast transient characteristic of the WSXa.
The WSXa is designed to be ground stacked and ultimate performance is achieved by close coupling a stack of four or more WSXa’s mirror imaged on their sides to increase the combined horn mouth area. For large outdoor systems, stacking mirror imaged pairs up to six or more high will form a tall line source which will focus the bass into the audience yet retain good horizontal coverage.
WSXa has been designed to be used with Martin Audio Wavefront series loudspeakers such as the W8C, W8CS and W8LC.
For the ultimate point-source sound system we recommend the WSXa combined with W8CS and W8C. This combination provides a five-way, all-horn loaded system.
The W8CS is a 15″ compact folded-horn sub-bass unit and it has been designed to work perfectly with the WSXa. They operate over the same frequency band (129Hz and down) and the outputs couple together with positive summation. The WSXa naturally produces lower sub frequencies down to as low as 35Hz. Whilst the W8CS has more punch in the upper bass region and also has a natural cut-off at 45Hz. To complete the system standing at around ten foot tall, we have the three-way all-horn loaded W8C with 12″ LF, 6.5″ MF and 1″HF.
